Ian Blakely

As a director in Good Energies’ New York office, Ian Blakely focuses primarily on investments in the solar space. During his time at Good Energies, he has also made investments in wind and load management companies.


Prior to joining Good Energies, Ian Blakely was the co-founder and CFO of BrightPath, a start-up focused on serving the needs of parents of children with learning disabilities. He helped lead fundraising efforts, development of a strategy and the business model and managed a team of experts providing advice to parents.

Previously, Ian Blakely was an associate at JPMorgan Partners, a leading global private equity and venture capital fund. While at JPMorgan Partners, he helped build and invested in successful companies in the energy, financial services, and transportation industries. As a former analyst at Morgan Stanley, he also helped advise consumer products companies on mergers, acquisitions and fundraising activities. During his time there, Ian Blakely worked on transactions such as the US$18.9 billion sale of Nabisco to Philip Morris and the IPO of Bunge.

Ian Blakely received his MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management with a focus on social and developmental entrepreneurship. He completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University earning a B.S. degree in Economics and B.A. degree in Environmental Science and Policy.
