Before joining Good Energies in 2007, Ian Taylor lead a UK renewables company, SLP Energy, for four years developing onshore and offshore wind projects and supplying foundations for offshore wind farms.
SLP Energy's activities involved taking the sites from the initial feasibility stage through permitting, construction and into operation. This portfolio included an 80MW onshore development portfolio as well as two UK offshore projects - 315MW and 240MW. On the construction side, he worked closely with SLP's in-house engineering team and many of the major UK offshore wind farm project owners and principle contractors - both in fabrication and offshore installation. He was successful in securing a £150m contract to supply the foundations for the 300MW Thanet project.
From 1997 to 2003 Ian worked for one of the UK's leading energy suppliers, TXU (now Eon UK) in various technical and commercial roles. Initially he project managed the development of new Combined Heat and Power installations for industrial clients with generation capacities of between 5 and 50 MWe. Subsequently he was responsible for evaluating all asset-based projects including wind and biomass generation opportunities as well as emerging technology development projects to ensure fit with company portfolio strategy. One of Ian Taylor's achievements was to secure Board approval for and to implement a 5-year, new product development program with an overseas partner to install micro-CHP units for domestic use. Ian also lead a commercial team responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of short and long-term power purchase contracts so that the company met its Renewable Obligation targets as effectively as possible.
Underpinning these roles is 10 years project management and engineering experience with two gas turbine manufacturing companies, Alstom and Rolls-Royce. Ian Taylor received an MBA from Cranfield University in 1997.
