George Coelho

George Coelho is Managing Director and Head of Venture Capital. He is responsible for the European Solar Team.

George Coelho joined Good Energies from Balderton Capital, formerly known as Benchmark Capital, Europe, which he co-founded in 2000. The fund has actively invested in technology companies in all stages of development in both Europe and North America. For Balderton, George Coelho served on the board of several portfolio companies and has acquired specific expertise in software and semiconductors.

Before founding Benchmark Capital, Europe, George Coelho led all of Intel Corporation’s strategic venture capital investment activities outside the U.S. Prior to that he was a founder of the group that evolved to become Intel Capital and ran the M&A group as Assistant Treasurer. Previously, he served in a number of senior positions in corporate finance at Nomura Securities, Union Bank of Switzerland and Bank of America.

George Coelho holds a B.S. from The American University and an MBA from The George Washington, D. C. University, where his studies focused on finance and international business. Today he is a member of the board of advisors to the George Washington, D. C. University, School of Business. In addition he is Member of the Board of Directors of the UK chapter of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs).
