The ongoing energy transition process offers unique challenges and opportunities in all our "3-P" sustainability dimensions:
| People | Planet | Profit |
|---|---|---|
| poverty alleviation through access to affordable renewable energy | accelerated transition to clean energy resources | outstanding business opportunities with superior returns |
Good Energies contributes to the challenge of sustainability through its investments and long-term support of companies, which advance technologies of the future.
Additionally, we support essential development initiatives in the field of clean energy technologies. We aim to help a new generation of technologies, systems and entrepreneurs succeed and make renewable energy a meaningful part of the world’s energy portfolio.
The silent power of sunlight its transformation into clean energy will make solar energy the single largest source of power by the end of this century. In the near future wind energy will also become one of the most commercially viable and significant sources of clean energy.
Changes in Energy Resources: 40% renewables by 2050
Access to affordable (renewable) energy is a precondition of poverty alleviation. Good Energies supports this cause with commercial investments, that also have a social element. As part of its investment strategy Good Energies has therefore a cluster which is dedicated to investments with high social returns called Investments in the Developing World.
What are investments with a social element? Good Energies believes that in developing countries only an efficient market economy can create a healthy environment, in which a country can develop its prosperity. In these regions, Good Energies engages in commercial investments in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector that are profitable and have also a high social impact as an additional return. Such a commitment can for example be an off-grid solar electrification project in rural areas of developing countries (solar home systems).
Furthermore, with its corporate giving program Good Energies supports projects that help the underprivileged in countries where market mechanisms do not (yet) work properly. Here, the support is purely philanthropic, and any project is designed to help people help themselves and to enable them to grow their own businesses.
Mission: Poverty alleviation through sustainable access to renewable energy.
Vision: The Good Energies Foundation follows a focused approach, contributing to the elimination of poverty in selected developing countries through fostering sustainable access to renewable energy. The GEI Foundation funds high impact, scalable projects, while respecting local conditions. Good Energies invites like-minded partners to join forces.
