6N Silicon

Company Logo 6N Silicon Inc., Greater Toronto Area (Canada) has developed a disruptive process for the production of true solar grade silicon. The process offers substantial improvements in scale-up-speed, reduced capital cost and reduced operational costs. The company intends on becoming the leading global supplier of solar grade silicon to the solar industry.

The company is a recipient of the Deloitte & Touche Technology Green 15 Award as one of the top fifteen green technology companies in Canada.

Concentrix Solar

Company Logo Concentrix Solar GmbH, Freiburg (Germany) was founded in 2005 and produces concentrator modules for solar power plants for sun-rich locations. By means of Fresnel-lenses the sunlight is concentrated and reflected onto a small solar cell. The highly efficient solar cells transform the light, which is concentrated with a ratio of 500, directly into electric power.

Concentrix was ranked “Start-up of the Year” by German business magazine WirtschaftsWoche?s Innovation awards 2008.

Company Logo Konarka, Lowell/Massachusetts (USA) was founded in July 2001 and produces organic PV modules on flexible substrates. Konarka?s innovative, light-sensitive products use next generation nano-materials that are printed on rolls of plastic at substantially lower cost than traditional photovoltaics and with many more practical applications.

Company Logo NorSun AS, Oslo (Norway) was founded in 2005. NorSun targets to become the leading and most cost-effective producer of mono crystalline ingots and wafers for the international solar industry. The production, which is planned to reach ca 600 MWp in 2011, will be carried out in Årdal – Norway and in Singapore.

Q-Cells

Company Logo Q-Cells SE, Thalheim (Germany) was founded 1999. Q-Cells is the largest solar cell manufacturer. As of 31 December 2007, 1700 people were employed by Q-Cells. By 2008 the company produces mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline solar cells with a total performance of 389.2 megawatt peak in Thalheim and is building factories in Mexico and Malaysia.

The company has a large Research & Development department. More than 250 scientists and engineers at Q-Cells are working on advancing the technology so as to achieve the objective of the company – reducing photovoltaic costs quickly and on a sustained basis and making solar energy competitive. The development of ever thinner solar cells and the constant raising of cell efficiency are proof of the successful research and development work. In addition to the activities in its core business, from 2008 onwards several Q-Cells AG subsidiaries will be producing photovoltaic modules on the basis of various thin-film technologies. Q-Cells AG has production facilities in Germany and Malaysia and representative offices in Hong Kong, China and Japan.

Q-Cells is quoted on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since October 2005 and listed in the TecDax.

Company Logo Solarfun Power Holdings, Qidong City (China) was established in August 2004 by Linyang Electronics, one of the leading electricity-measuring instrument manufacturers in China. Today, Solarfun is an established manufacturer of both photovoltaic cells and modules.

Solarfun is still in its growth phase and quoted on NASDAQ since December 2006. Good Energies has been invested since April 2006 and is today its biggest shareholder.

SolarReserve

Company Logo SolarReserve Inc., Santa Monica/California (USA) was formed under collaboration between United Technologies Corporation (UTC), a Dow 30 conglomerate, and US Renewables Group, a private equity firm focused exclusively on renewable energy. SolarReserve holds the exclusive worldwide license to build state-of-the-art Concentrated Solar Power plants that use equipment manufactured by UTC?s subsidiary, Hamilton Sundstrand Rocketdyne.

SolarReserve is developing power plants which generate electricity from solar power that is captured, stored and delivered 24 hours a day. The facilities utilize molten salt to power steam-driven turbines that generate fully dispatchable electricity.

The Dummuies Wind farm, Huntly (Scotland) is a 12 MW wind farm located in the Mains and East Mains of Dummuies in Aberdeenshire and became operational in April 2007. There are seven Vestas turbines and the output has been contracted for purchase by Scottish Power.
